More about Keep on the Shadowfell
I have continued to read Keep on the Shadowfell. RPG.net is going pretty hard on it, but they may be being overly critical and approaching it from the viewpoint of experienced role-players. I think it is a good, if horribly overpriced and shoddily constructed, introductory adventure. It is a linear combat encounter focused adventure with a very basic plot. NPC interaction is scripted like a video game and there are no stat block for the non-combatant NPCs. one big problem is that the quickstart rules are organized poorly and information is repeated in the two different books. Information the players will require like area effects for spells and skill rules are in the DM book. while all the basics are repeated between the two books, almost like they need to fluff up the page count.
Since I plan on running it on June 28 for a mixed group of experienced gamers and some newbies. I don’t want to post too many details. However I do have a few niggling questions like, does the wizard get both his daily powers or does he have to choose one. it is sorta unclear. the cleric powers are also a bit confusing in places. I should have the actual rulebooks by the time we get to play so I hope to answer all my questions.
